Zoo Bar

Calling all gays and lesbians in Hong Kong because the Zoo bar is literally for the party animals

Well, this bar located in Sheung Wan has been rejuvenated and converted from it's former name Rice Bar to the all new Zoo bar, opened to create a drinking and partying space for the growing gay and lesbian community in Hong Kong. It doesn't really matter if you're not homosexual, you are still very welcome to go in for a drink. I did anyway and the experience is a welcome change to the to the mass norm that you might get in LKF.

Interior dressed in black with feathers on walls and the ceiling in a jungle forrest type design, creating a zoo-like feel. The bar which transcendently illuminates and changes colours has been pushed to the side opening up the floor space for dancing, standing space or for just walking to the toilet.

So what drinks can you expect to find in a gay bar. Well, cocktails of course! They mix a range of groovy Zignature drinks including the Orange-A-Tang, Zoo Love and can mix up anything else on demand. Happy hours are between 6 and 9pm and all day on Mondays and Sundays. They also have themed events throughout the week, Jazz on Mondays, Latin on Tuesdays and euphoria clubbing house anthems for the rest.
