Lan Kwai Fong Beer BarLocated in the heart of Hong Kong's nightlife district on California Tower is an aptly named, Lan Kwai Fong Beer Bar and with a Foosball tableWell, from it's super-obvious name, you'll find this bar in no other place but Lan Kwai Fong, and you can bet yourself that you'll be coming here for beer of course! As you walk up the steep slope that D'Aguilar Street is, there's a side street to your left hand side which is where the Lan Kwai Fong Beer Bar is situated at ground floor. Because the road is at a slope, the ground floor is half hidden, so when you walk in at ground level, the further back you go, the more basement feel you get. Pretty busy at peak times and comfortable during others. Foosball table near the entrance for the enticing factor to lure in the football punters or anyone else who enjoys challenging themselves to more than just drinking alcohol when in a bar. Pretty decor, island bar at the front, restaurant tables and seats at the back and alfresco dining along the outside of the building. OK, so usually when you walk into a bar in LKF, you'll be greeted and served by a non-local such as a Filipino, but here at the Lan Kwai Fong Beer Bar, they are all young local student-like staff, so should be pretty popular for local Hong Kongers. I could be wrong though because as I walked in for a drink and dinner on Boxing day 2009, it was pretty quiet but a few tables surrounded by overseas born Chinese or international school students and the alfresco seating on the outside was all occupied by western expats. Boasting an impressive menu with 100's beer drinks from around the world and an equally well chosen wine list. I recommend coming here for the beer though, after-all, that's the niche of this venue. The food is quality stuff aswell, especially the Australian lamb shank or beer battered fish and chips, but the pasta dishes leaves a lot to be desired. Let's just say you'll be looking for a Mcdonald's afterwards. Listed Promotions
